SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

In addition to direct support of nonprofits such as the ones listed below, we are proud to announce the establishment of the BIG BIKE WEEKEND COMMUNITY FUND established at the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public benefit corporation. 100 percent of the proceeds from our raffle sales and 50/50 will go into the fund. The fund was established to provide grants to qualified organizations. Donations to the Big Bike Weekend Community Fund are tax deductible.

During fiscal year 2009/10, the Big Bike Weekend Community Fund and BBW, were able to provide financial assistance to the following:

Citizens Patrol - $1,400
American Cancer Society/Relay for Life - $250
American Legion Riders - $250
Golden Umbrella - $200
Redding Explorers - $300

In addition, in 2010 Big Bike Weekend participated in the annual Stuff the Truck to provide food, toys and clothing to the Good News Rescue Mission, Salvation Army (Redding) and Shasta Senior Nutrition Program. This event, held the week prior to Thanksgiving is a joint effort with BBW event sponsors, members of STAR Touring & Riding Association, Blue Knights, Shascade Wings, American Legion Riders, Warthogs and Freedom Riders, this event collected hundreds of turkeys, several tons of non-perishable food items, clothing, toys and personal hygiene products. All donations collected in this day-long event are distributed to each of the representative organizations at the event's conclusion that evening.
