1ST ANNUAL CALIFORNIA HONOR RUN |
Big Bike Weekend is proud to support the First Annual Honor Run. Join us on the ride leaving from Redding on September 3 as we head for Oceanside.
Today’s technology mercifully moves an injured soldier from battle to a fully-equipped hospital in less than an hour. This means that the number of severely injured and amputees
we bring home from war has skyrocketed over previous conflicts. One in four assigned to a world conflict now come home with some type of traumatic injury. The hospitals that the injured come home to, while better equipped to handle their injuries than ever before, are often ill-equipped to provide for their families.
The donations we raise will help a number of organizations take care of the men and women who took care of us. As well as their families.
A Fisher HouseTM is "a home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes are normally located within walking distance of the treatment facility or have transportation available. There are 40 Fisher Houses located on 18 military installations and ten VA medical centers. Three more are under construction.
The 1st Marine Division Association, motorcycle clubs and chapters, law enforcement, fire fighters, veterans and patriots all across the United States are supporting this effort. You can also be a part of it. First class entertainment will be provided by Gary Sinise (CSI New York) and his Lt. Dan Band which is scheduled to play at Oakley’s Southern California headquarters on Saturday the 5th of September. On the final day, riders from all across the United States, along with those riders and hot rodders signed up for the final leg of the Honor Run, will depart San Marcos, CA for the 60 mile escorted trip to Oakley’s headquarters in Foothill Ranch, CA. This will be one day to remember.
